Happy Friday! There is so much amazing and interesting content out there. Obviously we can’t include all of them, so we’re rounding up a few of our favorite articles and posts from the week. Let us know of any other articles we missed in the comments!

Read Melissa Joy’s story – she’s a rock star on the ski slopes! “She opened my eyes to what the possibilities could be for my daughter,” says [Melissa’s father] Norton, a ski instructor. “It was like, ‘Wow, this isn’t a big black hole. This is a girl who can walk and talk and ski.” Another interesting tidbit from this article: “nearly 99% of people with Down syndrome say they’re happy with their lives, and 96% say they like how they look, Skotko’s survey found. Among siblings, 88% say their brother or sister with Down syndrome has made them a better person.”

It’s prom season, and Charlie Gainey, an 18-year-old who has Down syndrome, is sure to have an amazing time. He’s nominated from Prom King…AND he’s going with Danielle Hooper, the reigning Miss Minenesota! He’s ready for a fun night, even if he doesn’t win: “It’s an honor and really means a lot to me and my date. Whether I am king or not really doesn’t matter; it’s about dinner, the dance, prom, and a lot about Danielle.’” Read the whole story here!

I love reading fashion blogs and magazines, and this sounds like an awesome fashion show: “These models are proud, they are confident… and they have Down syndrome.” Wish we could have been there!

Last on our list for today: Read about Nate, a 24-year-old self-advocate with Down syndrome. Nate works at Boston Children’s Hospital and loves bringing toys to young patients.

Have a great weekend!!
